Art India Initiative For Girls

Our Mission

To advance the education and development of the girl child among disadvantaged and underprivileged communities in developing countries, especially but not exclusively working with children in India, and using the medium of art as a key catalyst

Educating the Girl Child

It is well known that poverty, social inequality, and the abuse suppression and exploitation of women in many parts of the world are linked to illiteracy and ignorance. In the Indian subcontinent similar socio-cultural factors - a patriarchal bias in society, ignorant belief that the son can better look after old parents, fear of dowry, etc - leads to the menace of female foeticide, and continued deprivation of opportunity for the girl child, especially among the poor, underprivileged and disadvantaged.

Successful education of the girl child, and empowering girls through education, is effective in breaking down these ignorant norms, the exploitation and the suppression of women that is often a causative factor in propagating an incessant poverty cycle among the underprivileged

Engagement with the arts has been known to have a positive impact on young children, and has the power to transform lives.
We believe involvement with the arts helps children to stay engaged with the pursuit of education and strive for a better future.

By unlocking creativity, increasing confidence, improving communication skills, engagement with arts and creative activity gives children the power of expression, and raises the aspirations of young children

Using Art As A Platform

for the personal and social development of the girl child

These Are Our Aims

Introduce young children with underprivileged backgrounds to the arts, and use art as a catalyst to inspire them to learn more

Enhance their educational experience through participation in creative endeavour and facilitate and encourage them to express themselves by creating their own art

We aim to create long term art initiatives in local schools in disadvantaged areas with the help of partnerships with charities and local institutions that work in these areas, with the help and support of arts organisations, donors, and volunteers

We run art and educational workshops, and aim to help bring arts into each classroom and educational initiative for underprivileged girls

We aim to expand this platform to create volunteer opportunities for students with an interest in art and a passion to use their skills to conduct workshops and help contribute to society
